Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Nelson

Hi,

I just wanted to say how much we thank you for letting us adopt Nero. He is so precious and just what my other dog, Dexter, needed.

He is such a loving and beautiful dog. He has made a huge difference in Dexter’s happiness. Dexter needed to have a buddy to hang with and keep busy with. Nero filled that need.

Thank you again,

Julie

Nigel

I've had Nigel for a year now and he has been the sweetest dog. He is such a goofball, and has tons of energy to run around and keep up with me and my family.

My dad has grown attached to him and fights with me all the time over whose dog Nigel really is. Nigel gets along with my other two dogs great, he keeps them young we like to say.

I don't know what I would do without his big wet nose in my face every morning so happy to see me. After my dog Riley had passed, Nigel came to bring life back into my family and he has definitely done that.

I feel so grateful to have found your rescue a year ago, because I have no idea what life would be like without my baby boy around me.

Napster

Hi everyone! Sorry we haven't given an update on Napster. He's doing great with us! Everyone loves him here and gives him a lot of attention, so much that he just falls asleep wherever he falls.

The first day I brought him home he tried to protect me from my husband who came home from work. Since then, my husband and Napster have become more like brothers and they roll around on the floor together! Anytime we ask Napster for a kiss, he presses his nose against our lips. He will randomly walk up to us and jump up and hug us, resting his head on our lap or shoulder like a baby and then goes and plays with his toys.

On the 4th of July we found out he is afraid of fireworks! Every time one exploded he would jump up and cry to be picked up. Once in my arms he was fine, but it was adorable to watch his curiosity from the safety of my arms only. He is potty trained I think mostly on his own because he knew to scratch at the door when he wanted to go outside. We live upstairs and he waits at the top until we get there. If I don't walk fast enough, I get barked at!

We all love him very much and are very happy with him!! Oh, and Napster even gets along with our lizard!

Thanks so much!

Katie

Nilla

Hi! I wanted to send you a follow-up on my adoptee - Nilla - who has been renamed Jake. I adopted him on April 30, 2011 when he was 7 weeks old. I LOVE HIM!!

I adopted him shortly after my first "baby" passed away (she was 13 years old - labrador) and I could not stand the loneliness. Jake is the best dog ever! My daughter and I love him and he is part of not only the family but our neighborhood. He has several dog friends in the neighborhood and he loves to play with them. Everyone who meets him just adores him.

If I only knew then what a great dog he would be, I would have adopted two from that litter. He doesn't chew any household item, only his toys, he is obedient and loving. He barks only to get our attention to throw the ball or if he sees something that appears untrustworthy to him. He is the apple of my eye! The picture I've attached was taken on his first birthday.
