Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Sarra

I know it's been many months... Kenzie is now 8 1/2 months old and a graduate of both puppy beginner and intermediate training at Petsmart! She did so well that the trainer asked her to come back and visit during the next round of classes.

Kenzie is still a delight, as I knew she'd be! We walk every morning and night, and get to the dog park to play with friends almost every day. We tried out a bunch in the area, but finally settled on one nearby where she can run and mix and mingle with other dogs (and mommy gets to meet and talk to the owners). She has amazed other owners in how quickly (and how tall!) she has grown. She is always ready for a cuddle, and has become quite the bed hog! She goes into her crate on her own for quiet time, and has even made friends with my parents rather reluctant dogs, whom she outweighs by 40 lbs! My parents adore her, even though she is still learning about chewing...

I'm including a picture from her first day at home, and then one from about a month ago. Her change is HUGE!!

Thank you again for helping to bring us together!

Lauren

Cookie

Cookie is now LuLu and she is doing great. She has had a few accidents in the house, but aside from that she and Ty, another rescued dog we have, have become the best of friends. She loves to growel at the big dogs at the dog park. She's very brave when there is a fence between her and the big dogs. She is very social with the other dogs and the people at the dog park. When I take her out for her walks we come across some young children and she seems to get along just fine with them as well. LuLu has been a wonderful addition to our family and we couldn't be more pleased. Thank you, Lois Weinstein

Blondie

Hi We would like you to know that we love Blondie, who we now call Annie. She is just sweet as can be. And she is doing well and adjusting nicely. She is eating good and loves to go for walks and getting stronger everyday. We just love her and thank you for letting us adopt her into our lives. And thank you for all the wonderful work that you all do. Sincerely, Felicia and Jim and Annie too!

Luna
Luna

Hi There- Sorry for the delay in responding to your email Luna ( fka Lolita's) new big brother was just diagnosed with diabetes so we have been running back and forth to the vet to get him stabilized and adjusting to a new feeding schedule for everyone. Luna is doing great! She immediately let both boys know she was not to be bullied and established her place in our pack. She was a little shy and sensitive to noise the first couple weeks but got over that really quick. She did not know how to climb stairs at first and needed to be carried every time we went out for walks ( no small feat when you are walking 3 Schipperkes!) On her 2nd or 3rd day she learned how to line up with the boys to have her harness taken off at the bottom of the stairs then run up in order! She's a smart girl! She has been eating VERY well and has put on a few pound and is starting to grow in a nice glossy black coat. ( Her coat was dull, rough and brownish when I picked her up) She just looooooves my downstairs neighbor too- not sure why- she's only seen her a few times briefly, but each time she acts like she is seeing her best pal after a long trip! ( guess who will be dog sitting next time I go out of town? ) Ive attached 2 pictures for you- One is Luna posing, the other is Luna next to one of the boys, Barney- they are keeping me safe from Squirrels. Thanks for following up! Tara
