Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Amaya

Hello We renamed Amaya Coco with Amaya as her second name to honor her wonderful foster mom Lisa. She is 14 weeks tomorrow and is doing wonderfully. She has been accepted as a "pack" member by her siblings Emma, Jake, and Poppie and is very pleased about that. She is in puppy kindergarten at Petsmart in Lake Park and is at the head of her class. (At least according to her mom and dad). She will receive her final shots on the 21st and is doing well on her trifexis. She has frequent play dates with her friend the Corgi named Ringo. All is well. Aside from piddle accidents she is just about crate trained. Thank you for all you do to save these beautiful animals. When my husband and I retire we hope to be foster parents too. Take care and thanks again Toni and Chris Medvetz

Toulouse
Toulouse

Hi Kathy, Toulouse, now Coach, is doing fantastic. Now at 35lbs (and still growing) this lovely boy has brought so much joy to our home. Everywhere we go he is the center of attention! Thank you and A Second Chance for saving him and his family from the shelter in South Carolina. I couldn't ask for a better pup and can't imagine our family without him. Keep up the good work and thank you again. Sincerely, Cristy

Alex
Alex

Dale and Kathy, We need to get you guys pictures of Allie (Alex as you knew her). I had her at the vet on Saturday, her weight is up to 100.9 lbs (this is about 13 lbs more than she weighed when we got her). You now have to actually look for her ribs. Her spaying incision turned out to be infected, we have had her on antibiotics for the past 2 weeks and it looks great and is healing nicely! She is fitting in well and gets along great with our other animals and our grandson. However, I may never get my couch back as she is n-ow convinced that it belongs to her ;) Let me know if there is an upcoming event that Tina may be at and I will try to bring her up for a visit if I can and if Tina wants to see her. Thanks again for the privilege of having Allie with us!!- Herman Fronefield 7408186398

Georgia Peach

Hi Kathy, Georgia Peach is now Josey and she is a real sweetheart. She is growing like a weed and loves to run and fetch. We have taught her to sit, stay, and shake. She is walking on a leash and is 99% crate trained already. We really got a good puppy through your efforts and greatly appreciate your organization's work. We have recommended A Second Chance Rescue to several people and will continue to do so. We will keep you posted as to Josey's progress and adventures. I have attached a picture after a bath and on a walk for your viewing pleasure! Good luck and best regards, Ryan, Beth , and Josey From: adoptions To: ryanschemm@yahoo.com Sent: Saturday, March 10, 2012 5:24 AM Subject: FOLLOW UP LETTER GEORGIA PEACH Hi Ryan Once again,CONGRATULATIONS on the new addition to your family! Charlie Brown
Charlie Brown

Good morning, Charlie Brown is now named "Swiper". Swiper is the name of the little fox on Dora (my daughter's favorite show). He is doing good! He is a great family dog! He went for his check up a few weeks after we got him and he was checked out as being okay then a couple of weeks later he had white worms in feces so we immediately took him back to the vet and turns out he had tapeworms. He is getting his treatment now and seems fine. He was still eating and drinking okay so no problems there. He just needed a little TLC and he should be doing even better once he finishes his de-worming. He is very active and loves chewing everything! i mean everything so we have a close eye on the little guy. He likes to confuse which toys are his and which are my daughter's, haha. I posted a few pictures on your facebook wall when we first got him and I have some on my phone that I have not uploaded yet so will send additional soon. Thanks for checking in and please feel free to continue to do so. We love bragging about our little man. Thanks, Tiffany
