Animal Success Stories
As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek! Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes. We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families. If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story! Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Mister
Shelly and all! Hi! I hope you have not forgotten us, we (Jonathan and I) adopted Bagel about 9 months ago. We surely have not forgotten you, you gave us such a great addition to our home and we wanted to provide a short success story for the site. Bagel is doing so well. He is quite an energetic, excited, and loving puppy. He has become an integral part of both our immediate and extended family. His favorite thing to do is hide his raw hides, using his toys as "markers" so that he can find them later. He is such a character. He also loves to be chased, people or animal. Trips to the dog park involve him jumping at dogs 5 times his size in hopes that they will chase him. His saving grace is that he can easily out run any dog, luckily he never tries to run from us! We are currently in the process of moving to a bigger home with a yard so that Bagel has the space to play. We are constantly in contact with his vet to ensure that he is healthy (Jonathan would call this me over-worrying). Although he has gone through all of our sandals, at the end of the day, Bagel brings our family together and fills us with much love, and cannot imagine our lives without him, even if that means buying him a new pair of sandals to hide :) I have attached some pictures of him as he has grown through the months. With much love, Jonathan, Jennifer, and Bagel
Allie
Remi (aka Allie) is doing great! She is a very sweet girl. We (my husband and I) just love her! (My other two dogs, a Maltese and Yorkie are not sure yet.) Everyone gets along but Remi, because she is a puppy, is a little rambunctious when wanting to play with them. She is a little to rough for their liking. My brother and sister have bigger dogs and Remi loves to play with them! She has been to her follow-up visit at River Bridge and also has seen my vet, she goes in another week for her additional shots. I am looking into training classes, although she is a good listener (she sits, comes, knows her name, walks on the leash) I want to give her every opportunity to be a great dog. Plus, I'm looking forward to strengthening our bond. Thank you very much! I really believe that she is such a wonderful dog because of the loving care she received when she was being fostered! I think you guys are awesome!!! Sincerely,
Amy Works
Angel
Angel, now renamed "Lady Darbi Fox Bussard of Montecito" or just Darbi, is doing wonderful. She is almost completely potty trained, with just a couple slip ups here and there. She is eating well and regulating her own feeding. She responds to multiple commands, sit, shake, down, and come. She took right to her leash for walks, and other than occasionally trying to walk herself (grabbing the leash and holding it while walking), she's been great since the first walk. She has a ton of toys so as to keep her from chewing on anything she shouldn't, but we just can't seem to keep her out of the decorative moss on one of our artificial trees... but we're sure that she'll figure it out. Overall, she's been such a wonderful addition to our young family and we can't thank all of you enough for what you've done, giving us that little bundle of joy (and energy). You do some great work and not just for the animals. Please don't hesitate to contact us again, we don't mind bragging about her. Thank you again,
Jayson
Jumanji
First off we are so enjoying the new puppy. The first few days were a
bit challenging as we have never raised a dog even when my husband and i grew up. It has been a wonderful family experience so far. We look forward to raining a well adjusted dog and enjoying it for life
Second, we changed the name to Molly as it seems to fit so very well
thank you for your follow up
Let me know if there is anything else I can do
Sincerely,
Kelly
Jamaica
Thank you for your email. We changed Jamaica's name to "Kylie Marie" but we usually just call her "Kylie." It means "beautiful" in Gaelic, but it also means "boomerang" in Australian (very fitting for her!) Attached is a photo - as you can probably tell, she is a typical, rambunctious puppy! She is VERY smart - already housebroken and she is learning not to bite or jump up. She loves to race around, and jump over, and slither under things, so we may enter her in some agility training when she gets bigger. Everyone loves her and she loves everyone! She is an all around treasure and we are thankful, this Thanksgiving, that A Second Chance was able to save her for us!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
