Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Big Boy
Big Boy

Hello Kathy, Big Boy who we renamed Brutus is doing great. Within about a week here at his new home he learned to use the dogie door by watching our other dog use it to go in and out. He loves to run around the back yard and chase he toys we throw for him to run after. We are signing him up for the next training classes for puppies at Pet smart. I think the training we be very good for him when we take him to parks and other places and when we walk him on his leash. He is growing so fast. We have a collar for him that is adjustable, and so far I have had to adjust it twice. Once again thank you for letting us adopt Brutus and make him part of our family. As soon as I get some pictures of him I will e-mail them to you. Harold Golder

Andromeda
Andromeda

Andromeda is a great addition to our family. Our 4 year old kid actually changed her name to DUCHESS, which I think is more fitting as she acts like one all the time. She has so far doubled her weight, or more, since we got her a few weeks ago. We are working on potty training her and I think we are getting there, hopefully soon. She has improved on this a lot in the last couple of weeks. She is now cage trained. She was very shy when we first got her but now she has gotten over that and has become more playful. She is very loving and very smart. She has already learned to follow a few commands and we working on teaching her more. We decided to keep her inside the house all the time, taking her out only when we go for a walk or when she needs to do her business. She is still very picky with food. We have tried a few different ones and so far she seems to like the one we just got her a week ago. But we still have to sit with her and talk to her while she’s eating and until she finishes her food; otherwise, she’ll just leave without finishing it. But we are working on that. I have attached a couple of pictures of Duchess and a video of her and my daughter Isabella. We love her and we are happy of our decision to adopt her.

Donatelo

Thank you for staying in touch. Donatelo is now Diesel and is growing by the minute. Last time we weighed him he was around 17 lbs. Loves to chew but other than that he is a wonderful dog. I’ve attached a picture of him from a couple of weeks ago. Everyone loves him and finds him adorable. Especially us. Thank you again. Lisa and Jay Wilber

Ace
Ace

Kathy, Dunkin (Ace) is doing beautifully. We are so enamored with him -- it's wonderful. He is already at 21 pounds and thriving. We began dog training lessons with a great instructor who we heard about from Dr. Fox's office and Dunkin is responding well. He sits, stays and comes (for the most part) on command. The whole family is having fun working with him. He loves his crate and sleeps through the night from about 11-6:30 am without ever having and accident. He continues to pee occassionally during the daytime in the house (but I think this issue will resolve itself as we get more and more used to his schedule and he gets used to ours.) We believe he has begun trying to let us know when he needs to go out. He is just adorable, the sweetest dog and we couldn't be happier! Hope all is well. Thank you for the follow-up. Robin
