Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Uggi
Uggi

Uggie who is now named Charlie is doing great. We went to puppy playgroup today and he is blending in and playing well with the other dogs. We start training school soon but he already knows how to sit, shake pay and dance. Although he hates the crate, he stay in if I need to run to the grocery store, but not for more than an hour. He sleeps with us every night and waits for us to wake up before getting out of bed. We rush him out so he can do his business. It was a fun time at the dog event last saturday and everyone got to see Charlie and we heard his brother was adopted. Yeah! Also got to meet his mom. What a beauty she is. He received his rabies shot last week and did well with it. However last month the bortello and lepro shot made him sick. He is supposed to go back for those again in 2 weeks. Yikes. not sure if I want him to have them but the vet says it is important. We love him very much and are thankful he is in our lives! Phyllis Wallschleger

Thor
Thor

Hello, Ms. Kathy, Our family absolutely adores Thor, and he seems very happy here with us, too! He fits in well with our family! Thank you for checking in with us! I will try to remember to send in a pix soon! Thanks, Sharon Kennedy

Cece

Hi. Cece (or Bella as we call her) is loving it in her new home and with her big brother Oskar, who is a 2 1/2 year old shepherd mix. She was confirmed with hook worms when I took her to your vet 2 days after adoption to have her stitches removed, and it took a couple weeks to get rid of them, in that time she lost a lot of weight and was very ill. Think we were close to losing her? But, vet was great and she made it through, has put on lots of weight and is growing well now.. She is a very smart and sweet puppy, I'm sure we will have many great years with her.. Thanks, Lars Kjellerup

Awesome

Awesome and Anju were adopted together, and now live in Oregon! Hello Debbie & Mike ~ I just realized that the puppies turned 6 months old a few days ago so thought this would be a good time to send some updated new and photos. Awesome and Anju have bonded with us, grown and changed in the past few months. They are still very close and enjoy playing endlessly with each other but are developing their own separate personalities also. Anju is more timid of new things and unknown noises but she is a very lovable and cuddly. Awesome is the more serious of the two. He worries if Anju or one of us leaves the "pack" and acts so relieved and happy when we return. He is the swimmer. He will swim out into the lake to fetch sticks and even puts his whole head down into the water to retrieve something he wants. Anju can swim but prefers to only go out as far as she can with her feet still touching bottom. She loves to play on the edge in the grass and steal the sticks that Awesome brings ashore. Although he is bigger than Anju she is the one that teases him in play and he usually falls on his back when they wrestle. Anju loves to go in the car and is the first one at the door to get in. It is very funny that neither one will jump up into the back seat. They both put their front paws up on the seat and then look back with their heads around as if to say "we are ready for you to lift our back halves up". The best part other than their devotion is that when out on the beach or hiking in the wood they stick right with us, never running off. If they get a little ahead they keep looking back to make sure we are following. Here are a couple of photos of our great dogs! East coast dogs visit the Pacific Ocean for a tiring day........
